Referees! You are an important asset to the game of soccer.  Although it may not seem so, your time and effort is always appreciated.

• In the past, we've had too many games refereed by a parent or a coach because we did not have enough referees to cover all games.  But recently we've had more parents taking the referee class and this has really helped, we need to continue this trend!
• Many times, we'll have a trained center referee and two knowledgable parents as assistant referees.  I especially want to thank each and every person that volunteered during a game to be an assistant referee.   It is sometimes hard to find someone to do the job just a few minutes before each game, especially with knowledge of the rules and an unbiased attitude.  Besides, the parents are there to watch their kids play, not to be the Judge and Jury of the game.   But, please, until we can get enough trained referees, keep up the sideline volunteering!  It is a BIG help!

So help continue the trend in getting more trained referees in our region, sign up for a class, they are typically taught on the Saturday before the first game of each season, mark it on your calendar.   Referees shedule themselves to referee games, and you don't have to referee.   You can referee your own child's games, this is common in our league.  We find that once a person goes through the referee training, then they can call a fair game, we all hope that our own child's team wins and that's ok, but without a fair referee, that win is pretty much meaningless.
